Vettel returns to F1 cockpit

Sebastian Vettel is set to make a noteworthy return to the Formula 1 cockpit at the upcoming Nurburgring Nordschleife.

This return is part of a special Red Bull event, slated for 9 September.

Vettel retired from F1 last season and has since maintained a low profile, focusing on family. The upcoming event marks his first public appearance since retirement.

The Red Bull Formula Nurburgring event forms part of the renowned 12-hour endurance event at the historic F1 track.

In this spectacular reunion, Vettel will take the wheel of the RB7, the same machine that he led to dominance in the 2011 F1 season, while his former Red Bull partner, Daniel Ricciardo, will take charge of the 2012 Red Bull RB8.

E-fuels for Reduced Emissions

For this event, Vettel's RB7 will operate on e-fuel to limit emissions.

This commitment aligns with Vettel's vocal advocacy for environmental consciousness during his F1 career.

He believes that historic racing machinery can and should run on carbon-neutral fuel, as he demonstrated last year during a demonstration run in Nigel Mansell’s 1992 championship-winning Williams at the British Grand Prix.

Quoting Vettel's enthusiasm, he said, “Motorsport is my passion. It's important to me to show that racing cars can run just as well and quickly with synthetic CO2-neutral fuel. And that is already today!”

A decade of absence for F1 at Nordschleife

This event marks a decade since F1 machinery graced the 12.9-mile long Nordschleife.

The last F1 run was by seven-time champion Michael Schumacher, who drove a Mercedes F1 car around the track during the 2013 Nurburgring 24-hours race.

Prior to Schumacher's run, Nick Heidfeld made a round in a BMW-Sauber in 2007.

As Vettel returns to the track with a clear environmental agenda, all eyes will be on the Nurburgring Nordschleife come September.
