Max Verstappen pulled off a stunning last-minute pole position at the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix, upstaging the McLaren duo who had dominated practice sessions throughout the weekend.

The reigning world champion delivered when it counted, setting a new track record of 1m26.983s to secure his fourth consecutive pole at Suzuka.
