The rebranded AlphaTauri former Toro Rosso team has unveiled its 2024 challenger, the VCARB 01, at a glitzy launch event on the iconic Las Vegas Strip.

Coming on the back of a winter of seismic change for the Faenza squad, which has a new identity and leadership team, the brightly-colored new car marks the beginning of a new era.

Closer to Red Bull Concept

Eager to improve after a disappointing P8 finish in 2023, RB has collaborated more closely with sister team Red Bull over the winter.

This had led to the adoption of some key technical concepts from the reigning champions.

Most visibly, the VCARB 01 features Red Bull’s signature pull-rod front suspension layout, bringing it in line with Max Verstappen’s all-conquering RB19.

RB has also switched to using rear suspension designed by Red Bull since last season’s Singapore Grand Prix.

While retaining the core DNA of its predecessor with an evolutionary design approach focused on maximizing development potential, the VCARB 01’s sidepod inlets have notably converged towards Red Bull’s successful concept.

Driver lineup and management revamp

Despite its fresh new look and closer ties with the senior team, RB has retained its 2023 driver pairing of Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda.

They will be hoping to exploit the full potential of the rebranded outfit’s updated package to vault up the ultra-competitive midfield order.

Leading the team into its new era are CEO Peter Bayer and Principal Laurent Mekies, who have overseen a root-and-branch overhaul of the team’s organizational structure over the winter.
