Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel hinted at a possible return to Formula 1 in a non-racing role while speaking at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The German racing legend, who retired at the end of the 2022 season, is reportedly considering a future that combines his love for the sport with his passion for environmental advocacy.

"I've been to Monaco earlier this year, I had a very good meeting with Stefano [Domenicali]. And I have some ideas. And obviously, we'll see what the future brings," Vettel stated.

Despite enjoying his time away from the racetrack and relishing the freedom to explore new avenues, Vettel admitted to substantial interest in his potential role within the sport.

However, he also emphasized that he's not rushing into any commitments and is enjoying his current flexibility.

"There's lots of interest from different angles. But I set myself the goal last year that I want to be free," he added, underlining his current life priorities.

One aspect of Vettel's potential involvement could revolve around promoting green initiatives within the sport.

The former racer acknowledges Formula 1's significant role in environmental issues, not just through direct pollution from the cars, but also the large-scale events attracting vast audiences.

"A lot of people attend, I think you had around 500,000 people at the British Grand Prix last weekend? So there's a lot more to it than just the cars, but obviously, the cars, everybody sees them. And it's important that it's headed in the right direction," he asserted.

While Vettel takes time to enjoy his freedom, he also seems to understand that this chapter of his life won't last forever.

As he continues to explore this new version of himself, the racing world keenly anticipates how he will choose to contribute to Formula 1's future.

"I also know that I will not be living the life of my kids. It's not going to be my main task. Even though I want to be there for them. But sooner or later, I will probably figure out how to take on a new challenge," Vettel concluded.
