Red Bull and Perez part ways after four-year partnership
Red Bull and Sergio Perez end their F1 partnership after four seasons, following a challenging 2024 campaign and P8 championship finish. He is replaced by Liam Lawson.
Red Bull and Sergio Perez have announced their immediate separation, bringing an end to their four-year Formula 1 partnership.
The Mexican driver's departure follows a challenging 2024 season that saw him finish eighth in the drivers' championship.
Despite signing a contract extension in June that was meant to keep him at the team until 2026, Perez's struggles alongside teammate Max Verstappen led to negotiations after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, resulting in a mutual agreement to end their relationship.
In a heartfelt message posted on social media, Perez expressed his gratitude: "Thank you for these four years Red Bull.
I wish you the best." He later expanded on his sentiments in an official team statement, acknowledging the "unforgettable experience" and highlighting the records and milestones achieved during his tenure.
The departure marks the end of a significant chapter for both parties, with Perez specifically noting his respect for teammate Verstappen and expressing appreciation for everyone at the Milton Keynes-based outfit, from management to catering staff.
Red Bull has confirmed that Liam Lawson will replace Sergio PĂ©rez for the 2025 championship.
Max Verstappen thanked Perez on X "It’s been an absolute pleasure driving alongside you
We’ve had some amazing moments together that I’ll always remember. Thank you, Checo!"
