Montezemolo involved in Aston Martin F1's recent development
Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo is providing assistance to Aston Martin F1 according to Paolo Ciccarone, a prominent motorsport journalist. He claims that the arrival of Alonso to Aston Martin is influenced by Montezemolo.
In the latest episode of Pit Talk 341, Paolo Ciccarone, a prominent voice in the world of motorsports, made some interesting revelations regarding the help being provided by former Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo to Lawrence Stroll and his Aston Martin team.
Ciccarone spoke about his previous conversations with Marco Mattiacci, who confirmed that individuals with ties to Ferrari were involved with the Aston Martin team due to Stroll's close relationship with Montezemolo.
Ciccarone stated, "The experience of a great personality in F1 like the former Ferrari president, made available to a friend (Stroll), is clearly an advantage."
Ciccarone also suggested that Montezemolo had offered his help to Ferrari in the past, but the team declined, stating, "No thanks, we know how to do it ourselves."
However, Stroll was keen to capitalize on the experience and knowledge of Montezemolo, who had a close relationship with Fernando Alonso, one of the sport's most highly-regarded drivers.
"Alonso is always highly regarded by Montezemolo, who considers him to be the best driver," Ciccarone explained.
"The Spaniard can be the driving force behind a team in certain phases of its life, so much so that he can become overwhelming."
Stroll, who is one of the wealthiest people in the world, has invested heavily in both F1 and GT racing, and is keen to maximize his investments by seeking advice and guidance from experienced individuals such as Montezemolo.
"Having someone by your side who was the Ferrari president from 1991 to 2014, who dealt with Enzo Ferrari and Bernie Ecclestone, who knows Stefano Domenicali very well, with that kind of presence and charisma, can only be good for F1 and Aston Martin," Ciccarone said.
With Alonso's arrival at Aston Martin, it will be interesting to see how the team develops and whether Montezemolo's influence has a significant impact on their success.
