Mercedes has unveiled their new car for the 2023 F1 season the W14. The car, which was developed after a challenging 2022 season, retains the underlying concept of the previous W13 model but has been focused on improving core performance areas.

The car retains the same 'zero-sidepods' design concept of its predecessor while introducing a combination of notable changes visible on first inspection, such as the gulley bodywork on the engine cover, and others that are beneath the surface.

The iconic black livery from 2020 and 2021 has been refined as part of a significant weight reduction project, adding to the car's arresting appearance.

The driving duo for the Mercedes F1 team in the 2023 season will be Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, who are lining up for their second season together, with Mick Schumacher in his role as third driver.

Toto Wolff, the Team Principal said that the team's hopes and expectations are always to be capable of fighting for a World Championship, but he acknowledged that their competitors were very strong last year, and the team is playing catch-up.

"Racing at the front requires resilience, teamwork, and determination. We face up to every challenge, we put the team first, and we will leave no stone unturned in the chase for every millisecond he said."

Wolff further added: "The entire organization was pushing flat out last year, and when they realized that the car wasn't where they wanted it to be, they mobilized every reserve they had.

"We are now getting ready to start the next season. I see so much effort, motivation, and energy in the organization to launch a car that will eventually be competitive enough to fight at the very front of the grid."

Both Lewis and George have expressed their excitement about the W14. Lewis has been a part of the team for over a decade and says he finds it inspiring how diligently and passionately each person approaches their work.

George has been incredibly impressed with how the team developed the car throughout last season and is excited to see how that has progressed over the winter.

"Aesthetically it looks great! It's bold, aggressive, and stands out," he said.

Last season brought George's maiden pole position and Grand Prix victory, and he is eyeing further successes this year.

"It's been a long winter, and there's plenty of anticipation to see if the W14 lives up to our expectations."

"I'm excited, and while there's a lot of talk at this point in the season, we now need to see how we perform when the car takes to the track," he said.

For Lewis, the motivation within burns bright as he looks to come back from the first winless season in his career.

"I'm excited to go racing again. I feel calm, energized, and have my focus sharpened. I'm ready to do what's necessary to win," he said.

The 23-year-old Mick Schumacher joins the team after two years spent as a race driver at the Haas F1 Team, replacing Esteban Gutierrez as the Reserve Driver for the 2023 season.

"I've always felt very close to Mercedes. I am very happy to be a part of the team, and I know how important my role will be in aiding the development of the W14."

"I am committed to giving it my all to contribute to our performance in this competitive."
