Leclerc confident in Vasseur's plan to revive Ferrari's F1 fortunes
Charles Leclerc has expressed his full confidence and support in the strategic plans of Frederic Vasseur. Despite a challenging start to the season, Leclerc is certain that Vasseur has initiated a process that will eventually lead Ferrari back to its glory days in Formula 1.
Vasseur: A New Era for Ferrari
Having moved from Alfa Romeo to Ferrari before the start of this season, Frederic Vasseur has had a rocky start, with Ferrari currently sitting fourth in the championship, 146 points behind the current leaders, Red Bull.
Leclerc's third place in Baku marks the team's only podium finish thus far this season.
However, Leclerc is fully behind Vasseur's leadership, appreciating his efforts to swiftly analyze and understand the current situation at Ferrari.
In a recent interview, Charles Leclerc stated, "Well, I think he's just starting this process now."
"Until now he was basically trying to analyse the situation as quickly as possible in order to make the best possible changes for the future."
Leclerc's Trust in Vasseur's Long-term Vision
Leclerc, who finished seventh in Miami behind his teammate Carlos Sainz, expressed his optimism about the changes being implemented.
He knows the real work is just beginning, and he's excited about the future direction of the team under Vasseur.
"I speak a lot with Fréd, and I know what his middle and long-term plans for the team are. I'm completely behind him and I trust him fully," Leclerc said.
"So, I'm sure these are the right choices, and it goes in the right direction for the team. I'm looking forward to it, but let's wait and see."
Addressing the Inconsistencies
Despite the struggle, both Leclerc and Sainz have noted inconsistencies in their car.
Vasseur, however, remains committed to improving the team's performance, insisting that the focus should be on maximising the potential of the current car rather than on upgrades.
"We will have updates, but honestly [in Miami] the issue is not the potential of the car, I think that when we are putting everything together we are there," said Vasseur.
"It is more on the exploitation of the tools that we have rather than the updates."
