Lando Norris secured pole position in Singapore GP

Lando Norris secured pole position for the Singapore Grand Prix in a dramatic qualifying session.

The McLaren driver outpaced championship leader Max Verstappen, who will start alongside him on the front row.

Q1 saw Daniel Ricciardo, Lance Stroll, Pierre Gasly, Valtteri Bottas, and Zhou Guanyu eliminated. Notably, Franco Colapinto impressed by advancing to Q2 in his Williams.

In Q2, Alex Albon narrowly missed out on Q3 by just 0.024 seconds. Sergio Perez suffered a shock elimination, qualifying only 13th and nearly a second behind his Red Bull teammate Verstappen. Kevin Magnussen and Esteban Ocon also failed to progress.

Q3 was interrupted when last year's winner Carlos Sainz crashed his Ferrari at Turn 17.

After the restart, Norris set a blistering lap of 1:29.525 to claim pole. Verstappen secured second, while Mercedes locked out the second row with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.

Ferrari endured a difficult session, with Charles Leclerc's lap deleted and Sainz's crash leaving them ninth and tenth on the grid.

Oscar Piastri, Nico Hulkenberg, Fernando Alonso, and Yuki Tsunoda rounded out the top eight.
