British racer Lando Norris has signed a new multi-year contract with McLaren, confirming his place at the Woking squad beyond 2026.

Securing Norris’ services long-term has been a top priority for McLaren amid interest from rival outfits Red Bull and Audi.

Though exact contract length remains undisclosed, McLaren CEO Zak Brown stated it “goes well beyond his current contract” ending in 2025.

Locking down future star

At just 23 years of age, Norris already has four seasons of Formula 1 experience under his belt, all with McLaren.

2023 proved his most successful campaign yet, with the fan-favorite bagging seven podium finishes on his way to sixth overall in the standings.

With Norris and teammate Oscar Piastri signed through 2026 at least, McLaren has its future driving lineup secured as it bids to recapture former glories.

As quoted by Norris, “last season showed our desire to get back to competing at the front of the grid.” McLaren principal Andrea Stella echoed this hunger, stating the team’s “shared ambition to ultimately win championships again in the future.”

Norris delighted to continue McLaren journey

Having risen through the ranks of McLaren’s young driver program since 2017, Norris feels at home with the squad.

“The team are like family to me,” he remarked. “I’m excited to create more amazing memories and continue working hard with everyone at MTC for the next few years.”

With total faith in his youthful driver pairing, Stella drew parallels to iconic McLaren lineups of the past:

“They have impressed in their first season together and I’m looking forward to continuing the hard work with them both on this exciting journey.”
Racing director Andrea Stella labeled the new Mercedes power unit “a step change for us” that gives McLaren “a benchmark relative to the competition.”

Combined with a strong driver pairing, he says the team has “all the elements in place” for success. Now it’s time to deliver and bridge the gap to F1’s front-runners.
