Hamilton confirms reunion with Ex-Mercedes trainer Cullen at Ferrari
Lewis Hamilton strengthens his Ferrari transition by bringing former physio Angela Cullen back to his team through Project 44, reuniting one of F1's most successful driver-trainer partnerships as he begins his new chapter.
Team building
Lewis Hamilton has secured the services of his former physio Angela Cullen, bringing her into his Project 44 organization.
The reunion marks a continuation of one of Formula 1's longest-standing driver-trainer partnerships, with Cullen having been alongside Hamilton for six of his seven world championships.
The return of a trusted alliance
The New Zealand-born physiotherapist will integrate into Hamilton's performance team under the direction of Marc Hynes, marking a key addition to Project 44's recent expansion.
This move follows Cullen's brief stint working with IndyCar driver Marcus Armstrong after her departure from Hamilton's side following the 2023 season opener.
Speculation about their professional reunion intensified when Cullen shared social media posts featuring red attire and Hamilton's signature number 44, foreshadowing her return to the F1 paddock.
Despite their professional separation in 2023, Hamilton and Cullen maintained strong personal ties, with Hamilton previously noting their enduring connection:
"Angela is living her life right now. She's got so many ideas of things she wants to do. We message pretty much every day. We're stuck with each other, unfortunately, or fortunately! We've been through thick and thin."
Ferrari integration begins
The announcement coincides with Hamilton's first experience of Ferrari machinery at Fiorano, where he has begun familiarizing himself with the team's processes and power unit characteristics through simulator work.
His integration into the Scuderia has included meetings with team principal Fred Vasseur, CEO Benedetto Vigna, and Piero Ferrari, alongside visits to iconic locations including Enzo Ferrari's office.
This reunion with Cullen represents another piece in Hamilton's carefully constructed support system as he embarks on perhaps the most significant chapter of his illustrious Formula 1 career with Ferrari.
