Ferrari unveils iconic red-and-white livery for Las Vegas F1 event
Ferrari has revealed a striking throwback livery for its SF-23 car at the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix, paying tribute to the team's successful history in Formula 1's past American races.
The famous Italian outfit will sport a primarily red body with white accents on the rear wing, engine cover, and circular driver number board.
This recognizable color scheme evokes Ferrari's iconic 1970s F1 cars, which triumphed in the US under Niki Lauda.
The team gradually phased out white from 1978 onwards, apart from a brief return in 1993.
In announcing this livery, Ferrari aims to celebrate F1's surging popularity in America amid the Netflix docuseries' success.
The choice connects today's Ferrari team to the championship's last boom period in the US during the 1970s.
Las Vegas now represents F1's third race in the country alongside Austin and Miami.
The white accents differentiating this special edition livery required approval from all of Ferrari's sponsors.
To complete the retro look, drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will even sport matching race suits.
The night race down the famous Vegas strip promises glitz and glamor fitting for Ferrari's return to its time-honored red and white paint scheme.
F1 has invested heavily in the Las Vegas event's success, with teams optimistic it will further enhance F1's growth in America and worldwide.
Ferrari last sported white livery accents in 2016, but reverted to solid red following a winless season.
The team will hope this tribute to its US heritage inspires greater fortunes when F1 debuts in Las Vegas next November.
For motorsport fans, Ferrari’s iconic throwback colors will be a highlight of the weekend.
