Ferrari confirms F1 launch date for 2024 car
Ferrari sets 13 February as launch date for 2024 car, becoming first F1 team to confirm unveiling plans for next year's challenger.
Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur has refrained from making any bold proclamations regarding the 2024 season, instead emphasizing the importance of a strong start to the 2024 campaign.
His grounded stance comes after an encouraging end to pre-season testing last week.
No promises for 2024
When pressed by Italian media about aspirations for next year’s campaign, Vasseur stopped short of stoking the always demanding tifosi.
“I don't have to promise something,” he stated. “The best way is to be focused on what we are doing to deliver.”
This reserved approach marks a conscious departure from past seasons when lofty ambitions were trumpeted early on, only to end in disappointment.
“The Christmas gift for them will be if we're able to do a good job in March, not for Christmas,” affirmed Vasseur.
He elaborated further: “On Christmas the gift is just based on promises and I don't want to make promises.”
The team principal stressed that results in pre-season testing and early races would be the true barometer of Ferrari’s capabilities heading into 2024.
“We'll see in March if it will be the Easter gift,” he added.
Encouraging momentum from 2023
Although Vasseur conceded that third position in the 2022 constructors’ standings was below par, he took heart from the team’s resilience.
“I'm quite proud of the reaction of the team during the season as a group. We had a tough first six months until Monza, and the reaction was a good one,” he remarked.
“It means that as a group we work pretty well,” Vasseur continued, suggesting this cohesion can power Ferrari’s improvement in 2023 given encouragement from last season.
