Verstappen takes pole in F1 2024 Bahrain GP Qualifying
The reigning Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen maintained his dominance by seizing the inaugural pole position of the 2024 season at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen outqualified his rival Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari by 0.228 seconds, while Mercedes' George Russell slotted into third, 0.306 seconds adrift.
Leclerc's teammate Carlos Sainz took fourth on the grid ahead of Verstappen's Red Bull partner Sergio Perez in fifth in the final shootout.
Veteran Fernando Alonso steered his Aston Martin to sixth, leading McLaren Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri in seventh and eighth.
Mercedes Lewis Hamilton and an impressive Nico Hulkenberg for Haas rounded out the top ten positions.
It was a dreadful qualifying effort for Alpine, as both drivers were relegated to the back row of the grid, eliminated in the first session.
