F1 2023 Italian GP – FP2 Results
Carlos Sainz topped the timesheets for Ferrari in Friday's FP2 session at the 2023 Italian Grand Prix, narrowly beating his ex-McLaren teammate Lando Norris by 0.019s.
At the conclusion of Friday's FP2 session for the 2023 Italian Grand Prix, it was Ferrari's Carlos Sainz who emerged quickest around the legendary Monza circuit.
The Spaniard set a time of 1:21.355 to narrowly edge out his former McLaren teammate Lando Norris by just 0.019 seconds.
Splitting the Red Bull drivers was Oscar Piastri in the other McLaren, with Sergio Perez ahead of reigning world champion Max Verstappen in the standings.
Sainz's Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc could only manage a gap of 0.3 seconds back, while Williams' Alex Albon continued his strong form by breaking into the top ten once again.
The only real struggle came from Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton, who failed to set a competitive time on the soft tires and languished down in 17th position overall after Friday's running.
But with two practice sessions still to come ahead of qualifying, the British champion will be hoping for improved fortunes around the quickest track on the calendar.
