Formula 1 fans and insiders alike have been captivated by Aston Martin's stunning start to the season, securing back-to-back podium finishes in the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Grands Prix.
The team's newfound success has been spearheaded by new signing Fernando Alonso, the two-time world champion who even led the race for a few laps in Jeddah.
Morale Skyrockets as Team Pushes Flat-Out
Aston Martin's team boss, Mike Krack, spoke about the remarkable energy and enthusiasm within the team, which has propelled them to new heights.
"It is incredible. You cannot believe it if you did not live it," Krack expressed. "There is a huge momentum, huge energy in the team. Everybody is flat-out, flat-out. You have to push people now to go home to see their families sometimes."
He also praised the team's diligent efforts during the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix weekend, saying, "All weekend [in Saudi Arabia] we had mission control just looking at stuff, analyzing, trying to improve, so it's really a pleasure to work in this team."
Australia: A Painful Memory Turns into a Catalyst
As the Formula 1 season moves to Australia, Aston Martin will be looking to continue their strong performance.
The event was a painful one for the team last year, marred by reliability issues, accidents, and a lack of pace.
Krack noted the importance of that weekend in setting the stage for their current success.
"It was a very difficult moment, but also it was the best moment for us as a team," Krack reflected.
"We sat together, all of us, after that event, and the way we stuck together… It would have been easy to fall apart, but we really stuck together and decided we were going to work our way out of this, so it was actually my highlight of last year."
Currently holding second place in the constructors' standings, Aston Martin is 49 points behind leaders Red Bull.
Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso is third in the drivers' battle, trailing championship leader Max Verstappen by 14 points.
As the season unfolds, the Aston Martin team's unrelenting determination and sky-high morale make them serious contenders in the race for Formula 1 supremacy.
