In an action-packed and chaotic Australian Grand Prix, Red Bull's Max Verstappen emerged victorious, claiming the top spot on the podium after a race marred by three red flags and a final lap behind the Safety Car.

Lewis Hamilton secured second place, while Fernando Alonso overcame a collision with Carlos Sainz to clinch third.

Early Battle for the Lead

George Russell, who led the early stages of the race after a strong start, found himself aggressively holding his position against Verstappen and Hamilton.

Despite the pressure, Russell managed to maintain his lead until lap seven, when he pitted and switched to hard tyres.

This move saw him drop to seventh place, while Hamilton inherited the lead, closely followed by Verstappen.

Red Flags and Restart Drama

The race was red-flagged for the first time due to debris and gravel on the track after Alexander Albon's crash.

Following a standing restart on lap ten, Verstappen capitalized on DRS activation and quickly overtook Hamilton for the lead.

The Red Bull driver then managed to build a gap, staying out of DRS range from the Mercedes.

With no significant strategy variations among the front runners, the race seemed to be heading towards a predictable finish.

However, a second red flag was brought out after Kevin Magnussen crashed into the wall.

The resulting restart saw chaos unfold as multiple collisions occurred, including Alonso being hit by Sainz and the two Alpine drivers colliding with each other.
