Carlos Sainz: "I will decide soon' the next team
Carlos Sainz reveals he has received contract offers from every team with a vacant seat for 2025 as the Spaniard prepares to make a decision on his Formula 1 future soon after being dropped by Ferrari.
The 2024 Formula 1 season has reached its midway point, and the driver market for 2025 is heating up.
At the center of attention is Carlos Sainz, who finds himself without a seat at Ferrari after the Italian team opted to sign Lewis Hamilton alongside Charles Leclerc.
Driver movements
With several teams yet to finalize their driver lineups, Sainz has become a highly sought-after commodity.
Red Bull closed one door by re-signing Sergio Perez, while talks with Mercedes stalled as the team plans to make a later decision. Aston Martin and McLaren have secured their respective pairings.
Contract negotiations
In a recent interview, Sainz revealed the latest on his contract negotiations, stating,
"All the teams that don't have their drivers signed for next year have offered me a contract."
"If I want to, I could sign with anyone tomorrow, but I'm going to take it a bit slow. I will decide soon, and any of those teams is an option for me."
Life after Ferrari
Sainz's time at Maranello is coming to an end after an exceptional performance, including a win in Australia this year.
Despite the initial disappointment of being let go, Sainz remains philosophical, saying,
"You can't do [anything] against [signing a seven-time world champion]. I take it philosophically and try to accept it in the best possible way, and I also see it as an opportunity for the future."
Relationship with Leclerc
Regarding his relationship with teammate Charles Leclerc, Sainz stated,
"We are friends off the track and have a very good relationship. We make a very good team. If there is one thing that worked and works at Ferrari, it was the two drivers."
The road ahead
With offers on the table from Alpine, Williams, Haas, and Sauber/Audi, Sainz's decision will significantly impact the 2025 driver market.
As he aims to "keep winning races and be a world champion," the Spaniard's next move will be crucial in shaping his future in Formula 1.
