Carlos Sainz chases down thieves after being robbed following Italian GP
After the Italian Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz faced another dramatic situation in Milan when thieves attempted to steal his watch. He boldly chased down and caught the robbers to recover it.
The Italian Grand Prix proved an eventful weekend for Ferrari's Carlos Sainz, who battled on track for a hard-fought podium before later being involved in a dramatic off-track incident pursuing thieves in Milan.
Sainz started Sunday's race from pole position at Ferrari’s home circuit, leading the opening 14 laps ahead of Max Verstappen.
However, the Red Bull driver eventually overtook Sainz and went on to claim the race win.
Later that night, when in Milan to celebrate his podium, Sainz experienced another dramatic situation as he was targeted by thieves who attempted to steal his £500,000 Richard Mille watch.
As reported by Ansa, Sainz refused to let the robbers get away, boldly chasing after them through the streets alongside members of the public who witnessed the incident.
Sainz successfully caught the thieves and recovered his watch intact. Police later arrested three suspects.
The pulsating robbery came just hours after Sainz had reflected on whether Monza was his best overall weekend in Formula 1, remarking he felt "on it from the beginning" during the Italian GP weekend.
