Cadillac's long-anticipated entry into Formula 1 is is officially confirmed.

The automotive giant's journey to the F1 grid has been marked by strategic maneuvering and persistent determination.

After initial challenges, including a rejected entry in January 2024, Cadillac has successfully navigated the complex path to motorsport's highest echelon.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said: “As we said in November, the commitment by General Motors to bring a Cadillac team to Formula 1 was an important and positive demonstration of the evolution of our sport."

“I want to thank GM and TWG for their constructive engagement over many months and look forward to welcoming the team on the grid from 2026 for what will be another exciting year for Formula 1."

F1 and Cadillac

Cadillac's initial approach will leverage Ferrari's powertrain technology, with plans to transition to a full works team by 2030.

The formation of GM Performance Power Units LLC in January 2025 signals the manufacturer's serious commitment to technological development and competitive racing.

Domenicali's recent statements reveal the team's progress.

"There is the formality that is related to the process that [is] almost ready,"

he explained, indicating that the bureaucratic hurdles are nearly cleared for Cadillac's debut.

The company views Formula 1 as a critical technological platform for innovation. Domenicali emphasized GM's genuine desire to be a true constructor, investing deeply in the sport's technological ecosystem.

The team has already laid groundwork by establishing a UK headquarters in Silverstone and bringing aboard experienced talent, including former F1 chief technical officer Pat Symonds.
