Bahrain F1 Testing 2023 - Day 2 (Morning Session)

Carlos Sainz has set the fastest time with an impressive 70 laps under his belt. Meanwhile, Red Bull's Sergio Perez wasn't far behind, clocking up an impressive 76 laps.

Although it's important not to read too much into lap times at this stage of testing, it's fair to say that Red Bull appear to be in good shape, closely followed by Ferrari who are showing encouraging signs.

As for the battle for third place, it's a tight call between Aston Martin and Mercedes who were seen working with Lewis Hamilton, trying out different setups to find the optimal configuration.

Of course, it's still early days and we don't yet know the fuel loads and engine modifications that each team is using.

Drive to Survive Season 5: F1 Bosses Go Head-to-Head

The latest season of Drive to Survive features a tense exchange between Toto Wolff and Christian Horner over porpoising safety concerns during the 2022 season.

Mercedes experienced significant bouncing issues with the W13 in the early stages of the campaign, causing discomfort for their drivers and even leading to back pain for Lewis Hamilton in Baku.

Red Bull, however, did not face the same problem and went on to dominate the championship.

Safety concerns were raised during a meeting with F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, during which Wolff threatened to hold other teams accountable if their cars caused accidents due to stiffness or bottoming out.

The exchange between Wolff and Horner became heated, with Horner suggesting Mercedes change their car and Wolff responding by accusing Red Bull's Checo of complaining about their own car's issues.

The FIA has since implemented technical changes for the 2023 season to address the porpoising problem.
