Aston Martin has released the first images of its much-anticipated 2025 Formula 1 challenger, the AMR25, following the livery reveal at this week's F175 Live event.

The British outfit has made significant technical changes to its new machine, most notably redesigned sidepods compared to its predecessor.

While some competitors like Ferrari have shifted their suspension philosophy, Aston Martin has maintained a pushrod front suspension arrangement, extending this configuration to the rear of the car as well.

Technical evolution after disappointing season

The AMR25 represents a critical step for the team after a challenging 2024 campaign where it failed to secure any podium finishes despite claiming eight in 2023, ultimately finishing fifth in the constructors' standings.

"We learnt a lot in 2024 and the team have been using that as a driving force as we head into this season with the AMR25,"

said Fernando Alonso, reflecting on the team's approach to development.

The two-time world champion acknowledged the competition would be fierce in what will be the final year under the current technical regulations but expressed confidence in the team's preparation at the Aston Martin Racing Technology Campus (AMRTC).

Factory benefits and development focus

The AMR25 marks a significant milestone as the first Aston Martin car to fully benefit from the team's rebuilt and expanded factory located across from Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix.

New team principal Andy Cowell, the former Mercedes engine chief who brings championship-winning experience to the team, highlighted that the improved facilities allowed for extended design time before production began.

This should give the AMR25 a more mature development foundation even before its initial assembly.

Addressing key performance issues

Technically, the team has focused on improving specific weaknesses identified in the previous car, particularly targeting low-speed corner handling and through-corner balance issues that hampered drivers throughout 2024.

Lance Stroll emphasized the team's commitment:

"Everyone at the AMRTC has put in a lot of work over the winter to improve for 2025. As a team, we all want to perform well and we will continue to learn over the course of the year."

Critical year for Aston's project

The 2025 season represents a pivotal moment for Aston Martin to demonstrate progress to owner Lawrence Stroll after the team's performance declined since early 2023.

"What we are building here is such an exciting project with great tools and talented people, and 2025 is a key year for us to make progress,"

Stroll added, underlining the importance of the upcoming campaign.

The AMR25 will complete a filming day in Bahrain on Monday alongside Mercedes' W16, ahead of pre-season testing at the Sakhir circuit on February 26-28.
