Aston Martin Formula 1 team has unveiled a significant management restructure, appointing former Mercedes High Performance Powertrains boss Andy Cowell as team principal while repositioning Mike Krack to oversee trackside operations.
Split between track and factory
The reorganization, initiated by Cowell following a three-month assessment period, establishes a clear division between trackside and factory-based operations.
This strategic move aims to optimize the team's performance as it prepares for its transition to full works status in 2026 alongside Honda and Aramco.
Krack, who served as team principal for nearly three years, will now assume the role of chief trackside officer.
The restructure sees the team's Aerodynamics, Engineering, and Performance departments divided into dedicated trackside and factory-based units, both reporting directly to Cowell.
Technical Leadership Evolution
Former Ferrari chief technical officer Enrico Cardile will lead the factory-based development team once his gardening leave concludes.
This appointment follows the November departure of technical director Dan Fallows, who had joined from Red Bull in 2022.
Cowell expressed confidence in the team's direction, stating: "I've been incredibly impressed by the dedication, commitment and hard work of this team.
With the completion of the AMR Technology Campus and our transition in 2026 to a full works team, we are on a journey to becoming a Championship-winning team."
The restructure also impacts long-serving performance director Tom McCullough, who joined during the team's Force India era in 2014.
While maintaining a leadership position within the group, his exact role remains undefined, though it's understood he will oversee Aston Martin's broader racing activities.
