Alonso: 'Schumacher never underperformed'
Fernando Alonso has high hopes for his move to Aston Martin. Fueled by Schumacher's determination, he brings a wealth of experience and drive to the team's quest for a championship win.
Fernando Alonso, the two-time Formula 1 World Champion, has recently switched teams from Alpine to Aston Martin with a new challenge ahead.
In an interview with the official Aston Martin website, the veteran driver opened up about his motivations and goals for joining the team, as well as his admiration for seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher.
Alonso has always been known for his competitive drive and unwavering determination, traits that were on full display during his battles with Schumacher at the height of the German's dominance in the early 2000s.
"Michael didn't have bad days," Alonso said. "Michael never underperformed."
The Spaniard went on to describe Schumacher's remarkable consistency, even on days when the car wasn't working as it should.
"He had this tenacity, this willingness to exploit any opportunity – to minimize the damage on the bad days and maximize the good days. His determination was outstanding."
The veteran driver is now taking on a new challenge with Aston Martin, a team with big ambitions to become a championship contender.
Alonso was drawn to the team's investment and the influx of talent, as well as the prestige of being part of the iconic Aston Martin brand.
"We have to use our ingenuity and be creative in everything we do," Alonso said of the team's quest for success.
He emphasized the importance of continuous improvement, starting with asking questions and finding answers.
"It starts with an idea. But when will it be possible? What do you need to do to make it possible? This is what you have to keep asking yourself. This is what you have to keep working towards."
The key to success, according to Alonso, is executing every race to perfection and making the most of the innovations that have gone into the car.
The Spaniard is willing to wait for a competitive car, confident in the team's ability to make it happen.
