Williams F1
Williams F1 is a British Formula 1 team that was founded in 1977 by Frank Williams and Patrick Head.
The team made its Formula 1 debut in the same year, racing with a March chassis, and achieved its first points in the next season with a fourth-place finish at the South African Grand Prix and a second-place finish in the United States with Alan Jones.
This marked the start of the team's success, with its first championship double in 1980 and a Drivers' championship in 1981 and the Constructors' championship in 1982.
Over its 45-year history, Williams has become one of the most successful teams in Formula One, collecting 114 Grand Prix wins, 313 podiums, and 128 pole positions.
The team won its last titles in 1996 and 1997 with Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve, respectively.
Williams has also faced heartbreaking lows, including the death of Ayrton Senna in a crash at the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994. Patrick Head and Adrian Newey, the team's chief designer, were charged with manslaughter but acquitted at trial.\
Italy's highest court eventually found Head culpable of omitted control 13 years later.
The team's competitiveness yo-yoed over the years before a change in design philosophy under Paddy Lowe cost the team in 2018, resulting in its worst seasons in 2019 and 2020 with just one point in 2019.
However, the team showed signs of improvement in 2020, regularly battling Haas and Alfa Romeo.
In 2020, the Williams family announced that they were seeking outside investment to help the team recover and eventually sold the entire team to Dorilton Capital, ending their involvement in the sport.
The new owners stated that they would retain the Williams name, and in 2022, Alex Albon and Nicholas Latifi formed the team's lineup.
However, it was another challenging year for the team, finishing last in the standings.
2023 represents a year of change for Williams F1, with Nicholas Latifi and Jost Capito leaving and American rookie Logan Sargeant joining the team.
Despite its 26-year title drought, Williams remains one of the sport's most historic and illustrious teams and continues to strive for success in Formula One.
