FOM selected China and Miami for their strong overtaking potential and suitable timezones to attract European audiences. Consideration was given to Australia but ultimately ruled out.

Miami GP President Tyler Epp previously stated they welcome the Sprint format if F1 approves its fit.

Following the recent confirmation, Epp shared Miami is “delighted to host the F1 Sprint in 2024” and the added racing will guarantee three days of entertainment for fans.

Proposed Sprint format changes are expected to be presented to teams in January.

The current schedule is likely to be overhauled, returning Sprint Qualifying to Friday afternoons followed by both Sprint Race and Grand Prix Qualifying on Saturdays.

Allowing Qualifying post-Sprint could enable greater strategy variance but raises concerns of accident damage impacts.

Further considerations include updated parc ferme rules to prevent excessive early car-setting restrictions and exploring reverse grid formats for either full or top ten Sprint Race grids to encourage maximum performance in Sprint Qualifying.
